The Java House Roastery first opened in 1999. The main aim was to bring home what was originally ours: an appreciation and love for Kenyan coffee and tea. At the time, quality coffee was primarily exported. Kenya has some of the best coffee in the world and the founders of Java House and the Roastery sought the best roasting equipment as well as roasting training to give Kenyans the great quality coffee they deserve.
In 1999 the Roastery was located at our first branch in Adams Arcade. Java House guests could watch the roastery process as they enjoyed their breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, we have grown significantly since our little shop in Adams Arcade. Currently, we produce about 720 kilogrammes of coffee beans per day and continue to grow that number.
